Inspired at Warla Gorge, in the East Kimberley where we kicked back for a day relaxing by the swimming hole.
A small fig tree was growing from the rock on which I was perched by the water. I didn’t notice the tree until the afternoon sun hit the leaves and then I was mesmerised.
Grabbing my sketch book I designed Warla right there, sitting on that rock and created her when I got back to my studio in Broome, using fluro Biot feathers to capture the shimmer of light that danced on the leaves.
